Specializing In Behavioral Healthcare For The Mature Adult

Concerned about someone's emotional health?
Anyone can develop a mental health problem - you, a family member, a friend or the fellow next door. When problems mount to cause depression, anxiety or a change in behavior, professional help may be needed. Some of the signs to look for might include one or more of the following:
  • Loss of sleep
  • Poor appetite
  • Uncontrolled fear
  • Tearfulness
  • Depression
  • Feeling out of control
These and other personal and family problems can leave you or the one you care about confused and pondering what to do.

Is Depression the Cause?
Adults can easily become depressed as they not only battle the myriad of illnesses that come with the aging process, but also attempt to cope with the loss of their loved ones and peers. Adult individuals are at the highest risk for complications and life-threatening events related to their depression.
Individuals may suffer from major depression without their friends and loved ones realizing it. Their depression may be masked because they do not talk about their low mood.
If you suspect a person is depressed, ask about changes in sleep patterns, loss of appetite, difficulty concentrating or a decrease in routine activities. In these cases, physical complaints often decrease or completely go away following treatment for depression.
The Evergreen Center structured outpatient program for adults is a medically supervised program tailored to meet individual needs. Outpatient group treatment is a cost effective means of improving the quality of one's life and is a flexible alternative to full hospitalization. The program can also be used in discharge planning to assist with a transition from hospital to the community.
