| The Living
History Program© |
| The Living History Program© gives staff at Memorial Hospital and Hancock County Nursing Home a
way to deliver care to the heart and soul of the patient, not just
the diagnosis. |
| A Living History© is
simply a detailed social history of someone we care for. It
provides a mechanism for making connections with patients, residents
and families on a new level. Staff can read the rich details of a
person’s life and discover things they have in common. Also, Living
Histories give us a way to become more compassionate and
understanding of others. |
 |
| In this unique program,
patients or residents are interviewed by a hospital employee. Then
the simple question and answer format is transformed into a
beautiful life story. We ask that all our employees read the story
and look for ways to “connect”. |
| The mission of the Living
History Program© is to improve the way we care about and for our
customers at MH and HCNH. Patients have told us how much their
stories mean to them and their family. This is just another way for
us to show how much we value those who come to us for healthcare. |
